A cherished encounter with Jesus Christ made Paul embrace a totally new way of life. “But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” (Phil 3:7-8) At the heart of Paul’s revolutionary turning over to Jesus, there is the unforgettable Damascus experience which becomes a cherished reference point for him. He was well aware that the turning point from the old world to the new was no more a matter of the future. With the resurrection of Jesus, the decisive event has already happened.
